Boekenhoutskloof wines are expertly crafted with organic practices and little interference; this method plus the use of grapes from old bush vines produce wines with strong flavors and solid structures. Lemon and minerality are the main flavors. The wine was aged in oak, but at low temperatures, resulting in limited extraction and flavors that are more buttery than toasty and spicy.
On the nose, there are aromas of lemon zest, white peach, tasted spice, and predominate floral notes, all of which lend to the wine's vitality. Aside with citrus and cassis, the palate also has a gritty minerality, a gripping waxy texture, and cassis. Underneath its heavy texture, which is emphasized by the prolonged lees contact, it reveals a wonderful structure and tight mineral acidity.
This wine, which typically takes six to seven years to reach its best, is currently drinking nicely and will continue to improve over the coming few years
