"Casillero del Diablo" The American oak barrels used to age the Merlot to give it a vivid, rich, and deep purple color as well as aromas of dark plums, chocolate, spices, vanilla, and red berries. It has a silky texture, a rich, lengthy finish, and tannins on the palate. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied. When the creator of Via Concha y Toro put away a small selection of his best wines and discovered that some of them were being stolen, he did so to safeguard them. This led to the rumor that gave rise to the moniker Casillero del Diablo, which translates to The Devil's Cellar. As a result of the moniker, there was a rumor that the Devil resided in his cellar.
A wine that is silky, smooth, with little astringency and a classy, well-balanced finish. Toffee, vanilla, and cherry flavors give place to chocolate and red berry flavors, which are accompanied by cherry and liquorice scents. Soft cheeses, pasta, risotto, and delicately spiced meats go well with this medium-bodied wine. Serve at 18 to 20 °C.
