The name Lysa comes from the Old Norse which means "to bring in the light; to proclaim." The grapes for this first vintage came from a vineyard in Stellenbosch's Vlottenberg district, with gravelly sand top soil and granite and koffieklop beneath. Natural fermentation was allowed, like with all of Guillaume's other wines, with no yeasts introduced. The wine spent another 4 months sur lie after fermentation, with no wood used at all.
Great flavor concentration, from luscious stone fruit to sweet earthy veggies with a hint of nutmeg. Aromas of luscious, juicy white melon, lemons, wet chalk, lanolin, and gravel are restrained in this pale gold wine. The wine has a lovely mix of fruit and freshness, as well as a long finish.
